Driscoll Potatoes, Inc. was established in 1982 when Wally Driscoll searched for a better way to market his own potatoes. After purchasing the potato warehouse in American Falls, ID the Driscoll Potato team began to pack and market Idaho fresh potatoes grown by Driscolls and other local growers.

Driscoll Potatoes, Inc. cleans, sorts, sizes, packs, and ships multiple varieties of fresh potatoes across the United States by truck and by rail car to restaurants and supermarkets

I was hauling grain into the Pillsbury [grain] elevator in Power County. I was being a pretty good book keeper with my [grain] loads. There were two to three loads that I had copies of but the elevator didn’t. They [grain company] put my loads to some other farmer’s account. Well, I can’t afford that. So they corrected it and the guy running the elevator said, “Wally, why don’t you put a logo on your trucks so I can tell who you are.” I told him that was a pretty good idea because I didn’t want to go through that again by missing loads. In 1970-71 I searched around and there was a guy out of Idaho Falls name Fred Ochi. He was a Japanese artist, which his business was art. I went and saw him and said I want a spud man logo for my business. I want a potato with legs, cowboy boots, a cowboy hat, and I want him happy. A few month later Fred called me to come look at what he had created. He couldn’t have done it better because we’ve never changed it. It looks the same as it did when I started using it in 1972 on my trucks.
